Facebook, obviously the importance of reviews on this site can't be overstated. With 2 Billion users the reach of Facebook is staggering. Every one of your potential clients has an account on Facebook. It has gotten to the point that if you glance at your Facebook feed while you are at, say... Joe's Widgets, it will present you with the option to "check in". While checking in guess what you just may see? What other Facebook users think of Joe's Widgets.
Different types of businesses must pay attention to different review sites. Various niches, such as restaurants need to keep an eye on and cultivate strong Yelp, Trip Advisor and Urbanspoon reviews. automobile dealers should have similar concerns for their reviews on DealerRater, Edmonds and other dealer review sites. With that in mind, there are a few sites, Google and Facebook being the two most influential that every business should be concerned with. With Facebook you do have the option of disabling reviews, but by doing so aren't you cutting off an incredible and free marketing avenue? Wouldn't it make more sense to cultivate Facebook reviews than have people be urged to check in only to possibly notice that reviews had been disabled? I would be suspect at that point.
Facebook is not only the largest Social Network on the planet, it's the most widely used "product" on the planet. It's reach is massive to say the least. Every business should cultivate Facebook reviews. If not for the fact that each and every client you have has a Facebook account, (I know there are a few holdouts, but for all intents and purposes... It's pretty much everyone). But also for the Search Engine Optimization Juice of the second or third most visited site on the planet. As we've talked about elsewhere Google pays attention to more than just their own silly little stars. So knowing this... Facebook should be in your arsenal.
Although targeting certain review sites for your business may seem daunting, especially when most businesses have a hard time coaxing over a few measly reviews per 100 clients. There are Apps that not only make review collection easy, some of them such as GooViewZ allow you to target different review sites with each client. GooViewZ is set up so you select 2 review sites to send to each client, need to concentrate on Facebook and Google? Send those them to each client for a couple weeks. Get a rather bad review on Yelp? Start sending everyone to Yelp and Google...
Getting reviews for your business and becoming a 5 Star business is no longer as daunting a task as it once was.
